Butterfly Plant

26 February 2008, Plant

Butterfly plantI had search the internet for this plant name but didn’t found anything that refer to this one. The leaves looks like a Christia obcordata or vespertilionis, but I think it’s different.

We - in Indonesia - usually call it bunga kupu-kupu or butterfly plant/flower in English - because the leaves are really look like a bunch of butterflies.

They coloring up my garden with their purple leaves. I don’t know if there are another species of this plant with different leaves color.

It has flowers too - some small beautiful flowers.

It grow well in dry season. After 3 month or so, we can divide it to another pot. This plant do not like direct sunlight, so I put it on the pot under the tree.

Anyone know the real name for this plant?

Update 03 May 2008: This plant name is Oxalis triangularis or purple shamrock. Thanks, N. Much appreciated.
